Developing Character and Moral Leadership in Primary Schools
The Heroism Framework is a structured character development model that strengthens moral leadership, behaviour and personal development, creating a shared culture of responsibility across primary schools and trusts.
Character Is Expected. But It Is Not Structured.
Primary schools are expected to evidence strong personal development outcomes, yet moral and character development are not taught under a structured framework within the National Curriculum.
Instead, they are dispersed across PSHE, assemblies and pastoral work, often without consistency.
The result is not a lack of effort, but a lack of structure. This is the gap the Heroism Framework is designed to address.
“In Their Words
We are held accountable for personal development — but we are not given a structure to build it.
The Heroism Framework Is Not PSHE or Citizenship.
It is the foundation for character. It develops the moral and personal capacities pupils need to engage positively with school life and learning.
Read Why It’s Different
Without this coherent moral foundation, personal development is harder to evidence and behaviour management tends to be reactive, dependent on systems rather than pupils’ internalised judgment. The Heroism Framework underpins PSHE, Citizenship and wider school culture by turning values into lived behaviour and measurable personal development.

Designed to operate within the school timetable, not alongside it.
Moral and character development are embedded through intentional content and curriculum integration, particularly within English. This strengthens behaviour, personal development and academic engagement without adding lessons or workload.
The in-school delivery model is currently being trialled with partner schools. Schools interested in piloting the framework are invited to opt in by contacting us.

Children take part in real social action projects where moral reasoning, responsibility, and leadership are not discussed but required. They must make decisions, work with others across generations, and take responsibility for outcomes that matter beyond themselves.
This is not enrichment. It is the application of the Heroism Framework under real conditions, reinforcing the same moral foundations that underpin the in-school model.

Saturday School for Heroism
A proven, community-based model where pupils apply moral reasoning, responsibility and leadership through real social action projects. The Saturday School provides visible evidence of character development in practice and strengthens pupils' confidence, social responsibility and community engagement.
In-School Delivery (Pilot Phase)
Curriculum-integrated delivery of the Heroism Framework within the school day, embedded primarily through English. This model supports moral reasoning, behaviour and personal development while strengthening oracy, reading and writing — without adding lessons or timetable pressure. Schools may opt into the current pilot phase.
Character Through Oracy Framework
A focused entry point using structured dialogue to embed moral reasoning across classrooms. This model develops inclusive oracy through spoken language and British Sign Language (BSL), strengthening pupil voice, reasoning, listening and respectful communication. It supports engagement, behaviour and inclusion, and can be integrated into the school's existing English curriculum or as preparation for wider framework adoption.
“Heroism is the decision to be in service of others through humility, honesty, and kindness.”
Being The Cure wants to empower an entire generation, igniting within them a profound understanding of the transformative power of their own moral compass.
